One Month Since "the call"

It has been a month since we received our referral for our beautiful baby girl, Gayle. It hardly seems possible that we have made it through this month! We talk about her every day and I am thankful that God has given me a sense of peace during this time. Somehow it was harder to wait before we knew who she was. I used to worry all the time about where she was and what she was doing. Now I know she is safe at our agency's transition home and she is being loved and given the best care possible.

We have been busy, busy, busy! We needed to renew our homestudy so that meant we had lots more paperwork, physicals for all four of us, a letter from our accountant, an in home visit from our social worker and new fingerprints for our FBI background check. But I am happy to say we completed the fingerprints today so we should be all done. On top of the FBI fingerprints we need to be reprinted for USCIS (immigration) and we are waiting for that to happen.

We have also been putting the finishing touches on Gayle's room and getting ready for our first trip to Ethiopia (more on that in a minute). We are planning on taking 150 pounds of donations for the orphanages so I have been stockpiling diapers, wipes and formula. Here is our first (of three) full suitcase!



The courts in Ethiopia are still officially closed but we are starting to hear that some work is being done. Our paperwork has been submitted to the courts and we are just waiting for them to give us our court date and let us know when we will travel. We think it will be mid to late November. My birthday is November 22 and the best present in the world would be to hold my baby girl!
